Here in Wisconsin we have plentiful lakes
to fish in. Living on Beaver Dam Lake is a blast. With the men in our neighborhood, we have a fishing story to tell every Sunday. We have formed a neighborhood Fellowship. Anyone can come and brag
about their day on the lake. The best one so far is about the new neighbor John. He loves to fish and has been fishing as much as possible. He was accepted in the neighborhood because he had a fishing
boat, a true fishing boat at that. He named it "Surface Bait".
One morning John woke up to fish. It was during the week and most of the people leave for work between 5 and 7 am. He was
casting off his shore and getting some hits. One of the casts he had thrown ended up snagged in a willow tree. As he proceeded to untangle the double jointed repalla, it came whipping back catching him in
the ear! Not wanting everyone to know, he called upon the owner of the home, Dale, to come over and help him out.
Dale could do nothing, so off to the hospital they went. After arriving home, they laughed
and giggled about the incident. When Dale replied, "Boy, that was one heck of a surface bait! Should have thrown him in and see what we would have caught!" John replied, "You're not going to
tell the guys what happened are you?" Of course not Dale replied, "Nobody will know." Needless to say all the guys knew and were waiting at John's to have a beer, on the best story yet!
L. Norenberg enjoys fishing and is pleased to say that John still has both ears!
Thank you for telling your Tall Tale!
